Migrate Off IBM’s MDp to Seagull Software’s “LegaSuite for CICS™” for SOA Compliance and Improved PerformanceMDp Users Seek Replacement as IBM Withdraws Support for MDpATLANTA - 20 March 2006Seagull Software (AEX: SEAGULL), a leading provider of high-performance solutions that transform legacy business applications into service-oriented architecture (SOA) assets, today announced that LegaSuite for CICS supports a strategic migration path for customers using IBM’s Message Driven processor (MDp) (formerly marketed by Early, Cloud & Company). Customers can replace MDp with LegaSuite without any changes to the mainframe applications. LegaSuite also offers the ability to replace MDp with no changes to the client applications that connect to MDp. “Because IBM has announced withdrawal of support for MDp, customers are looking for replacements” commented Andre den Haan, Vice President of Product Strategy for Seagull Software. “LegaSuite for CICS helps customers minimize the cost, risk and disruption of migration to a supported solution, and they get SOA compliance as a bonus.” The integration modules of LegaSuite for CICS feature many of the inherent strengths of MDp and leverage core CICS functionality to give customers all the capabilities of MDp and more – including faster performance and SOA standards-based integration. “Enterprises are still struggling to find the best ways to rapidly implement their service oriented architecture plans," said Ronald Schmelzer, senior analyst with ZapThink, LLC. "With Seagull's LegaSuite solution, customers can take a big step forward by 'leapfrogging' from an older generation of middleware straight to SOA Web services, without disrupting ongoing business operations.” Seagull Software offers several conversion utilities to assist customers in their migration from MDp to LegaSuite. “The goal is to replace MDp as transparently as possible to the other applications on either end,” said den Haan. Benefits of LegaSuite Integration for the MainframeWith LegaSuite for CICS customers receive the following benefits in addition to replacing MDp with a supported solution:
“LegaSuite for CICS has outperformed MDp, resulting in cost saving through reduced CPU usage, increased scalability and increased user satisfaction through better response times,” remarked den Haan. LegaSuite for CICS is currently available and is in production use at many mainframe accounts worldwide.
