Cordys and Seagull Software Announce Alliance AgreementAlliance Opens Up Legacy Systems to Cordys Composite Application FrameworkGARTNER Application Integration and Web Services Summit 2005, LOS ANGELES – April 18, 2005Seagull Software (AEX: SEAGULL), a leading provider of software products for connecting legacy applications to service-oriented architectures (SOA), and Cordys, a global software company providing the most comprehensive Composite Application Framework (CAF) commercially available, today announced an alliance agreement to help enterprises speed the deployment of service-oriented architectures at a reduced cost and risk. Under the agreement, the companies will collaborate on technology, marketing and sales initiatives worldwide. Cordys delivers a new generation business operating framework that is completely Web-services based. It brings new levels of IT optimization through total business integration. The framework includes rich client technology for the Web-based user interface, Business Process Management (BPM), Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) and Web services orchestration. Cordys delivers an open and flexible infrastructure to easily adopt a services oriented architecture, using existing applications as well as new applications to be built. Seagull Software's LegaSuite® provides the "on-ramp" for proprietary legacy applications to the Cordys ESB by wrapping mainframe, iSeries and UNIX/VT business logic and data into callable XML and SOAP interfaces for efficient, standards-based integration. Once available as Web services, enterprises have a foundation to start re-engineering these existing business processes and orchestrating them into new functionality. "High performing legacy systems play a key role in most organizations, however, until now they have been limited in the role they can play in service-oriented architectures," says Henk de Ruiter, Executive Vice President of Cordys. "Seagull Software's LegaSuite addresses this need by service-enabling existing systems for rapid, standards-based integration with the Cordys ESB. Many of Seagull's enterprise customers have already published Web services from their legacy platforms and will continue and extend this investment by reusing these components in Cordys' powerful composite application framework." "Implementing a service-oriented architecture is about change and creating an agile, flexible and responsive environment to more effectively manage change," said Don Addington, CEO and President, Seagull Software. "Many organizations feel constrained by the rigidity of their IT infrastructures and are struggling with taking the first step. The powerful combination of Cordys' Composite Application Framework and Seagull Software's LegaSuite breaks the barriers of SOA complexity and hype, so that enterprises are empowered to start implementing a service-oriented architecture that leverages their existing systems today." Seagull Software and Cordys will be demonstrating the joint solution at the Gartner Application Integration and Web Services Summit, April 18 - 20, 2005 in Los Angeles.
