LegaSuite GUI: Transform Green-Screens into GUIs

How it Works

LegaSuite GUI lets you update applications with a user-friendly GUI on wide range of host platforms with no coding and no changes to the host:

  • Mainframe: MVS, z/OS, and VME mainframe
  • System i (AS/400) midrange
  • OpenVMS and UNIX-VT midrange
  • VME mainframe

LegaSuite GUI tools include:

  • LegaSuite Workbench GUI Builder: Visual development toolkit to generate GUIs based on host application screens.
  • LegaSuite GUI Server and LegaSuite Client Access License (CAL): Runtime server and client software to deploy applications to browsers as HTML, Java, or Windows clients.

Creating a GUI from Your Host Applications

To build a new user interface for a host application, you use LegaSuite GUI to gather application metadata from your existing host applications and automatically apply graphical templates to the metadata. You can use templates provided in LegaSuite GUI, or easily customize the template to your own look-and-feel specifications. LegaSuite GUI automatically generates a GUI for each application screen.


Automatic GUI generation

On top of one-to-one application development, you can go further to enhance the application at the GUI layer, improving workflow, automating application navigation, collapsing multiple screens into a single view, introducing productivity widgets and additional data validation, and integrating with other applications that may run on completely different platforms.

Deploying Your GUI Clients

LegaSuite GUI server software is used to deliver GUI clients to users. The LegaSuite GUI server offers a flexible deployment architecture that lets deploy your choice of clients (Web, Windows, or Java) as well as deploy two-tier or three-tier architectures all from one development effort.

Users access the GUI application in their browser. The browser, LegaSuite GUI Server, and Web server work together to give users access to your applications.

Communication between all LegaSuite GUI components can be secured via industry-standard SSL encryption. All user interfaces honor host security, meaning users that connect through LegaSuite GUI interface are still subject to all security settings on the host.
